Board Update

The Friends of Maplewood Nature board members have been working on the development of goals and plans for fundraising, membership drives, event sponsorships and marketing/publicity.  Another planning meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, April 23rd at 5:00 p.m. at the Maplewood Nature Center.

The board is currently looking for additional members as we move forward with the planning process.  Anyone is welcome to come to a board meeting and find out what we're all about. No special skills are needed other than a love of nature and a desire to support our mission.  If you would like more information, feel free to call the nature center at 651-249-2170.  We hope to see you there!

Ron Bowen is the founder and president of Prairie Restorations, Inc., a Minnesota company started in 1977. PRI is dedicated to the restoration of native plant communities and is likely the oldest active restoration company in America.  As a pioneer in the restoration industry, Bowen has been a leader and active participant in promoting and utilizing native plants and plant communities in the built landscape.  His talk will focus on the relationship of pollinators to native plant communities. With thirty years experience in restoration, Ron will share what he has learned for improving habitats for bees and other pollinators. Seed Packets will be available, as well as the potential to win a “Pollinator Kit Gift Certificate” Door Prize (value $100) from Prairie Restorations.  We invite you to preview some books on prairie restorations and pollinators that are available at the library.

Free, Please call the nature center to register at 249-2170 as seating is limited. The talk is geared towards adults.
